Kendall Mitchell - Exploring Music for Preschool

Kendall Mitchell is from the Memphis area and is the daughter of a music minister and piano teacher. Throughout childhood Kendall learned the piano, the flute, and the guitar, as well as being involved in church choirs and musical camps.

Kendall attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi earning her Bachelors of Arts in Music Education and her minor in Psychology. During that time she taught beginner piano, sang in a cappella groups, and traveled extensively with her college choir to sing all over the MS/TN/AL metro areas as well as in Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Since moving to Birmingham in 2016, Kendall and her husband, Jordan, are both active members of the Hunter Street community and staff working in the Children’s/Preschool Ministry, the Tech/Comm Ministry, and by leading a small group since 2019.

Even though Kendall has been working within our Preschool Ministry and with preschool-aged children for the past for 15+ years (5 at Hunter Street), she never gets tired of teaching the joy of music to little ones.

One of Kendall’s biggest beliefs is that every child was born to learn and to love music. Her biggest aspiration when teaching music is to teach that our Creator did create us to enjoy music, and that it connects us and brings us closer to Him. Kendall also believes that the joy and love of music is not difficult to attain when taught properly and taught with love and joy in itself. Our purpose is to praise the One who made us, and what better way to do that than with song and dance?
